Arthur L. Coleman
Arthur L. Coleman is the founder and CEO of r:eThought. Mr. Coleman is well-known in Silicon Valley as a specialist in multi-channel consumer marketing, and was one of the first to implement – as early as 1995 - methods for successfully migrating traditional brands into an on-line presence or creating new brands just for on-line markets. He has worked with numerous companies – including Microsoft, Time Warner, Clorox, SAP, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Intel, ROLM, California Culinary Academy, among others – to create or evolve their multi-channel marketing efforts. Mr. Coleman’s most recent assignment was at SHOP.COM, where he was the VP Marketing. SHOP.COM is the largest Internet marketplace, allowing consumers to shop for all the products they need, from over 1,000 merchants, start-to-finish with one password protected account.Mr. Coleman was one of the early visionaries for what would ultimately become Internet commerce and marketing. In 1992 he founded i-cubed design, a company focused on product design for interactive and on-line environments. In 1996, i-cubed won the 1996 Best Internet Site of the Year Award from Microsoft Corporation for its work on Digital Chef, one of the earliest on-line retail businesses. That same year, the digital tv guide built by i-cubed won Best Application of Show at the Western Cable Show. Mr. Coleman sold i-cubed design in 1996, and joined Sun Microsystems. As a member of the original Java team at Sun, Mr. Coleman guided the creation of the first electronic wallet, helped evolve the security model for Java, conceived current Internet payment platforms and launched the highly successful Java Card, which now is the underlying software platform for most cell phones, smart cards, and set top boxes worldwide. Arthur is a noted author, frequent industry speaker on e-business, multi-channel marketing, and online payment systems and holds a B.A. and M.B.A. in English from Stanford University.. Oliver Muoto
Oliver Muoto is CTO of r:eThought. He was most recently co-founder and VP of Market Development
at Epicentric,
the leading provider of Business Portal solutions for Global 2000 companies
to deliver integrated Web services to their customers, partners and employees.
As the original VP of Marketing, Mr. Muoto was responsible for the successful
launch of the company. Founded in 1998, Epicentric had over 300 employees
and 350 Global 2000 customers before it was acquired by Vignette
(VIGN), the industry leader in enterprise content management, in December
2002.
Prior to founding Epicentric, Mr. Muoto held various senior marketing and product management positions and played a critical role in the successes of five startups. At TouchWave, Mr. Muoto was responsible for the launch of the first Web-based Voice Over IP phone appliance, the WebSwitch. TouchWave was later acquired by Ericsson (ERICY). As co-founder of RandomNoise, Mr. Muoto launched Coda, the industry’s first all-Java Web Site builder, which went on to win several industry awards before it too was acquired by Vignette (VIGN). Mr. Muoto has been featured or quoted in numerous industry trade journals and national newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, CNN, Fast Company, Wired Magazine and the San Jose Mercury. He is a frequent speaker at industry-wide conferences on enterprise software and Web Services. He is also an inventor of one of the first U.S. Patents (6,327,628) awarded to an enterprise portal software company, covering the administration of user privileges in portal frameworks, and has other patents pending in the areas of location-based services and RFID. Mr. Muoto serves on the advisory boards and board of directors of several early stage startups primarily focused on Internet, enterprise and infrastructure software. Mr. Muoto is also a member of the City of San Carlos' Economic Development Advisory Commission (EDAC) and is actively involved in a number of non-profit organizations. Mr. Vartan is Managing Director of r:eThought's Comprehensive Brand
Management and Corporate Marketing Practices. Mr. Vartan comes collaborates
with r:eThought via Aegis Partners, a specialized marketing firm that
helps companies create and leverage brands. He has over twenty-five
years experience in corporate positioning and identity, product development,
marketing, advertising, and design consulting. Previously, he was a principal of S&O Consultants (now Addison), a leading marketing, design, and research resource serving a broad range of U.S. and international companies. He served as managing director on a wide range of client engagements as well as being responsible for integrating multi-national programs and co-developing the firm's innovation methodology. Earlier, Mr. Vartan was a senior marketing executive with E&J Gallo Winery. During his six years at Gallo, he was responsible for new product and category development and was instrumental in developing the corporate image- enhancement program, positioning, and communication strategy for all Gallo brand wines. Prior to this, he was senior vice president with Cunningham & Walsh Advertising, managing director of the consumer product accounts of Brown & Williamson, the Maybelline Division of Schering-Plough and the Gillette Company Personal Care Division. He began his career at Tatham-Laird & Kudner Advertising in Chicago, where he worked with Procter & Gamble and with Coca-Cola Foods. Mr. Vartan attended Princeton University, has a BSBA degree from Northwestern University and an MBA from Northwestern's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is a national trustee of the American Foundation for the Blind headquartered in New York City. AFB is the largest agency in the U.S. serving those who are blind or visually impaired. Mr. Vartan also serves on the Kellogg Alumni Advisory Board. Ralph Severini
Ralph Severini is VP, Business Development for r:eThought. Mr. Severini
has been working with distributed, networked computing since 1980.
Most recently, Mr. Severini was Vice-President for Entrust Inc.,
a worldwide leader in security software. Working out of Entrust's
New York City office, Mr. Severini was responsible for developing
revenue for Entrust's financial services market worldwide, constituting
about one-third of Entrust's sales. Prior to Entrust, Mr. Severini was a member of the executive management team and Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development for Mint Software Technologies (Mint). Mint, a startup founded in Israel, creates and sells e-business integration software and middleware. Mr. Severini helped grow Mint to 12 offices worldwide and over 225 employees. Mint was purchased by Sungard Data Systems (NYSE:SDS). Previously, Mr. Severini was the Enterprise Sales Executive and Business Development Manager for Sun Microsystems where he served as chief of staff to the field sales organization. His responsibilities included sales and business strategy, marketing, and partnership alliances. Mr. Severini was instrumental in bringing Java to Sun's clients through early identification and investment in joint customer and partnership driven opportunities. Mr. Severini also has filled a number of other interesting, senior management roles. He was CEO of Lakota Systems, a systems and network management software company. Lakota was co-founded by five former AT&T Bell Laboratories scientists who were recognized leaders in this field. During this same period, Mr. Severini worked with the U.S. Government and former communist countries to spearhead technology transfers to Eastern Europe. He was personally responsible for over $7M in high-tech gear being donated to a number of universities. Major contributors included AT&T (including Lucent), Sun Microsystems, Cadence Software, etc. In addition to his sales and marketing roles, Mr. Severini has helped refine and redesign Information Technology (IT) operations, and he has worked with major corporate IT organizations to help improve and reengineer their IT processes. He served as an Examiner for the New Jersey Quality Achievement Award, which is based on the same standards as the national Malcolm Baldrige Award. Mr. Severini also serves on the board of advisors of an Israeli linked venture capital company. Mr. Severini holds a Master of Science degree (MS) from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J, a Master in Business Administration degree (MBA) from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA. and a bachelor degree (BA) in Mathematics from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He holds memberships in IEEE, ACM, NY Academy of Sciences, American Management Association, among others. Joe Morin
Mr. Morin has been involved with the Internet as a marketing medium since 1998, having co-founded a
venture capital funded supply chain software company focused on ecommerce logistics. With a background in
investigations and research stemming from a previous life as a corporate private investigator, In 2000 Mr. Morin
set about discovering by research and trial and error how to drive website traffic via search engine optimization.
In 2001 Mr. Morin became a consultant focusing on all aspects of search marketing including branding and strategy,
Internet business modeling, lead generation, competitive intelligence, organic search engine optimization,
keyword research, ROI analysis, conversion, search engine vendor relationships, paid inclusion and website analytics.
Specializing in enterprise level search optimization for large scale and global web properties, Mr. Morin has consulted with many large web properties and multi-national corporations with their Internet marketing strategy including Autobytel, Inc., Dentist.net, Sparkletts Water, MGM Mirage, UsedCars.com, Travelzoo and World Publications. Mr. Morin has been featured as a speaker at several Search Marketing Conferences including Search Engine Strategies by Jupiter Media in Stockholm 2004, Chicago 2004 and New York 2005 and the WebmasterWorld.com Search Conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center 2004 and New Orleans 2005 speaking on topics such as 'Big Site Big Brand' , 'Outsource or In House?', 'Enterprise Level SEO' and 'Competitive Intelligence'. Prior to her independent consulting work with r:eThought, Astrid was a Marketing and Planning Director at Sun Microsystems in California’s Silicon Valley for 10 years. Prior to that, she worked as a Management Consultant in New York City, Boston, and San Francisco. Astrid earned a degree in Computer Science from Brown University and a MBA from the Harvard Business School.
